For our 100th day of school, the Catbirds had a carnival of 100 activities.
First, we gathered all of the square magnatiles.
We made a pile of ten, then talked about how many tens we would need to make a hundred, using our 10 finger chart. Friends predicted that the next pile of 10 would be a different size then the first. We tested our hypothesis and discovered that it was the same!
Friends brought up piles of ten and made corrections if they weren't the same size. Then, they crossed of the next finger on the chart.
We finally had 100 magnatiles! These would be one stop in our carnival as friends built buildings using exactly 100 tiles!
Friends rolled and moved until they got to the giant 100!
The next activity was building a marble run for 100 marbles!
This proved to be a difficult one, although the Catbirds enjoyed working on it.
At another station, we had Cheerios. Using our hands chart, friends strung 10 pieces at a time and then marked it off. Friends strung 20 or 30 or 40 or 50. (The broken ones, we ate)
Our final game was a chip tossing.
Friends had to stand behind a line and try to throw 100 poker chips in the bins.
It was a fun day, 100 percent!
