Tuesday
On our shortened day, we worked on building magnatile creations by watching demonstrations and copying them. This is an important skill set that will build friends' abilities to learn from teaching and to retain the important parts of what they have been shown.
This was another new activity. Each child sat in front of a board with 6 simple shape drawings on it.
I would then draw one of the shapes on their back and they would point to which one they thought it was. For some Catbirds, this came easily and for others it was difficult. It requires that friends translate the tactile into a mental image and then match it to the visual. These are skills that have many uses, in particular they are helpful for reading and writing.

A few Catbirds went to Phallon's kindergarten for a math session.

Friday
This morning, we met with our new 4rth grade buddies for the first time.
They will be helping us with our self portraits in Spanish class next week.
We seemed to hit it off well and are discussing other projects we might do together.
A parent came in after to read us a book about the Lunar New Year.
Then we made lanterns together.
We had some time downstairs to play with balloons.
